Date - 13/01/2013
The members of “The Himalayan Foothills Social Welfare
Foundation” had recently visited the Alipurduar – I Block in the district of
Jalpaiguri on the 12th of December, 2012. During their stay at
different places of the region, it was decided that the “Society” will
distribute about 100 (one hundred) Blankets to the poor and needy
people in the Village of “Chakua Kheti” under Alipurduar – I
Block.
A discussion in this respect was initiated with the local
Panchayat Pradhan and some Social Workers of that region; the outcome of which
was the proposed programme for distribution of blankets. The region is under “Cold
Wave” at the present moment and the poor people are need of proper
woolen garments in order to save themselves from this biting cold. Hence,
keeping all the aspects under consideration, it was decided that around 100
(one hundred) Blankets would be distributed to the people of the
village and the date for the said programme has been fixed on the 13th
of January, 2013 (Sunday) at the premises of a local
school.
The programme is scheduled to start at 09.30 a.m. and is likely
to be attended by the Block Development Officer of Alipurduar – I Block,
Panchayat Pradhan of the said Gram Panchayat, Headmaster of the local school,
Officer – in – Charge of the local Police Station and other guests and
dignitaries. Mention may be made here that such distribution will be done
absolutely “free of cost” and the beneficiaries will not be charged a
“single paisa” for such distribution.
This is a very tiny drop in the vast ocean and is a very
little endeavour on our part, but definitely a sure and strong footing in
fulfilling our dreams of putting the smiles back on the faces of the downtrodden
and needy of the region.
Hence, we appeal to all our friends, well – wishers and
organizations to come forward in extend their hands of generosity in our
efforts to eradicate poverty and lighten up the lives of these poor people.
Thanking you.
